Brecon Beacons Mountain Rescue Fire!
/Devastating set back for a hard working emergency service
It is thought that thousands of pounds worth of damage has been caused and will be a major set back to the central mountain rescue team. Being an emergency service that depends on donations to fund its great work, the central team has been left devastated by the fire.
No one can deny the sterling work all rescues teams do in helping find missing people and ensure injured walkers get the best possible aid often in severe and dangerous conditions.
Loss of vehicles and equipment
The main damage it seems has been to the vehicles and the equipment stored in them. The fire looks to have been caused within one vehicle that is used for controlling their operations during call outs using radios and other electrical equipment.
A busy festive period ahead.
With all the visitors coming to the area for Christmas and winter breaks the weeks ahead are traditionally a busy period for the team. 2017 has already seen them having their busiest year with 130 call outs so far.
The team have become a household feature in the Wales area as they often appear on our screens during program breaks. It was always a good reminder of the excellent work and commitment they give and will be more so now.
The very nature of the team being committed volunteers means they will continue their work using their own vehicles, equipment until an assessment of the full damage can be done. They will be looking for donations now more than ever. If you would like to help or donate then click HERE
